San Francisco Indepedent Film Festival
Wayward returns to San Francisco at the Castro & Roxie Theatres for the San Francisco Independent Film Festival. Be sure to try and make the Opening Night screening at the historic Castro Theatre on Thursday Feb. 3 @ 5PM. Screening with a great collection of shorts including the very funny animated film Oedipus (told with veggies!) and hillarious I Am Stamos. But if you can't make that screening, be sure to check it out at the Roxie when we screen with the Sci Fi feature White Skin (La Peau Blanche) which won Best Canadian First Feature at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival 2004.

2 More Fests in November!
Wayward travels to Marco Island Film Festival in Florida (yes, expect election craziness there) and then back to the California Independent Film Festival in Livermore, CA. On an amusing (and scary) tip, the flight to Marco Island involves a stop at an airport in Houston called George Bush airport -- talk about a weird world. So election hell will take place on Nov. 3, but if you're around on Nov. 4 and need a break from screaming election folk, check out the film @ the Marco Island Film Festial. And hey, vote for Kerry if you read this before hand -- please!!!!! People don't deserve more of Bush and his adminstration's amazing narrow minded view of the world.

Festival Recap (Big Bear and Oakland)
Wayward had a great screening down in southern california for the Big Bear Lake Festival. Monika Skerbellis put on a great program for all involved. Highlights included tributes to Lazlo Kovacs and Ron Perleman (with special appearance by the Terminator lady herself Linda Hamilton). Be sure to check out jury award winning film A Night at Sophies -- charming, enjoyable romantic comedy with winning performances and a nice spin on a tale you think you've seen before.

Later that week, Wayward travelled north and across the bay to the Oakland Film Festival. Just in its 3rd year, Nicole and David Roach assembled a diverse selection of independent films to screen at the majestic Grand Lake Theater. Really fun screening and q&a afterwards. Plus Editor Robbie Proctor and Sound Designer Eli Yerbury also worked on the feature film "Happily, Even After" that played at the festival. But the real bonus was the crazy piano bar down the street -- I'll be sure to find out the name soon -- but well worth checking out -- amazing divey atmosphere and how can one beat the biz card decorations adorning the walls.
